Monday along the Lycian Way

A British man is feared to have been kidnapped while enjoying a walk in Turkey. John Kirkham and his wife Sandra were staying in a hotel in Ovacik and John, 67, went walking on Monday along the Lycian Way. His wife describes him as an experienced walker and the family is considering the fact that he may have been abducted as there is no trace of him anywhere.

The walk should have taken him eight hours and he was due to return to the hotel by the afternoon but concerns were raised when he did not show.

The military police have done extensive searches for Kirkham but have so far been unable to find any sign of the missing man. Sniffer dogs have also failed to pick up on his trail.

“John is a very experienced walker. We walk a lot at home he’s fit and able and has never had any difficulty before. I just can’t imagine what has happened to him. We’re beginning to think he has maybe been abducted on this road. He left on Monday morning to walk the first part of the Lycian Way,” said his distraught wife.

The walk has been recommended as one of the top 10 walks in the world and the 300 mile pathways link the towns of Fethiye and Antalya. Kirkham is a father of three from Fleetwood in Lancashire and he was wearing a pair of blue shorts and a white t-shirt when he disappeared. Carrentals.co.uk reported online
