The dogs have a compound in Marmaris

I am a regular visitor to Icmeler, and have been for over 10 years, but each year I notice the poor Street Cats, being a cat lover, I always go to Tansas and feed them on my way round the town.

The rumour going round is that at the end of each season Icmeler council sets down poison to secure the deaths of any remaining cats in the area, this is barbaric, we don’t live in the 18th Century anymore, we live in times where we can have cats as pets and have them neutered so they don’t multiply.

I fail to see how poisoning them solves the problem? All that is happening is there being used as gimmicks; throughout the year to attract tourists like myself, then when they have served there purpose, you do away with them like there vermin. I am sorry but it has to STOP and I intend on doing whatever it takes to make sure it stops.

The dogs have a compound in Marmaris where they can be taken to, supplied and supported by Marmaris Council, why can’t Icmeler council do the same for the cats. People are willing to come from the Turunc street cats area and help out with vets fee’s and stuff, so why can’t you work with them and not against them ?

I know of a couple of people who run independant Cat shelters around Marmaris and on the Datca road, if you worked with them it would help solved the problem, also if you educated your people that cats are not vermin and got the turks to like cats this would also help.

Please, please, please lets find a way to resolve the problems in a humane manner.
